On the other hand, if you ask, I can guarantee that help will be sent. So, unless your store's management has made a point of forcing cashiers to ask, they usually won't. Why? Because there's a lot of customers that get flat out offended when you offer them help loading, even if it's something that they really do need help loading. One thing I'll point is that you need to ask for help loading or a lot of the time it won't be offered. Cashiers aren't allowed to leave their registers at all, but if you find an associate in the aisle and ask them to help you load, they'll have to do it unless they're busy helping another customer. On the other hand, all associates are required to help customers. It's not uncommon to have one loader for the whole store, so it can take a while for them to show up, since they work loading calls in the order they were received (and trust me, there's always a loading call). We have associates dedicated just to loading, but they're often stretched very thin. So should I be receiving loading assistance or is this a store to store policy? I hate to complain about something that isn't a service and I don't mind doing it myself to a degree but having a audience to, I assume, ensure I didn't steal a $5 bag of concrete really just left a bad taste in my mouth about the place overall. But she essentially stood there playing on her phone while complaining how hot it was, a obvious distractor that just pretty much pissed me off. Which was physically impossible, I was well beyond my weight limit for my SUV, but it's a short trip so I was willing to push it. But to make matters worse, a 60ish employee came out to play on her phone while I loaded and I assume make sure I wasn't stealing(?). ![]() But for instance this past weekend I was working on my sidewalk and was grabbing 20x 80lb bags of Sakcrete in 100F weather, so it was miserable in the loading area to say the least. I get this, as I imagine they have employees spread thin and no one really wants to drop everything to do manual labor. ![]() But I've never received any help loading my purchases, the one time a checkout worker offered to find me someone I had already finished loading up by the time they got there (30 minutes for a trailer load of fencing materials). Anyone care to enlighten a customer on THD's policy on helping customers load their vehicles? The quick summary is that I'm remodeling a 35yo house by myself, so needless to say I'm visiting my local store more than most people probably tend to.
